Spaghetti and Meatballs

I am pretty sure pasta, meat, and cheese form the ultimate comfort food combination.  Therefore, I decided to provide all these elements in the timeless recipe of spaghetti and meatballs.  I hope you enjoy this one as much as I did. 

Ingredients

Meatballs

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1-2 slices bread, stale and cubed, found here
  • ½ cup milk (I used oat milk)
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup onion, minced
  • 1-2 garlic cloves, minced
  • ¼ cup parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 Tbsp. basil, dried
  • ½ Tbsp. oregano, dried
  • 1 Tbsp. parsley, dried
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Spaghetti

  • 1 package dried spaghetti
  • Marinara sauce, found here
  • Parmesan cheese, grated (garnish)
  • Basil, sliced (garnish)

Method

Meatballs

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F
  2. In a food processor, pulse the bread cubes into crumbs
  3. In a small bowl, soak the bread crumbs in the milk
  4. In a large bowl, combine all meatball ingredients
  5. Mix with hands until homogeneous
  6. Form into balls and place on parchment-lined baking sheet
  7. Bake for 15 minutes

Spaghetti and Meatballs

  • Boil spaghetti according to package instructions
  • In a large pan, heat marinara sauce over low heat
  • Strain spaghetti and add to marinara sauce
  • Add meatballs to spaghetti and mix until everything is covered in sauce
  • Garnish with parmesan cheese and basil
  • Serve and enjoy
