Chocolate Blueberry Smoothie Bowl

Spring is here!  The flowers are blooming, the butterflies are pollinating, and my blender is making smoothies.  It’s the nature of things.  Anyway, I can’t believe I haven’t tried this combo yet and shared it!  It’s absolutely incredible.  If you’re looking for antioxidants for breakfast (or dessert), this is the bowl for you!  Tell me what you think!


  • 1 cup frozen blueberries
  • 3-4 frozen bananas
  • ¼ cup cacao powder
  • ¼ – ½ cup water
  • 1-2 Tbsp. almond butter
  • ¼ cup buckwheat groats (optional)
  • 1 fresh banana, sliced
  • 1-2 tsp. almonds (optional)
  • Extra blueberries for garnish


  1. Place the frozen blueberries, bananas, cacao powder, and water into a blender
  2. Blend until creamy (help the blender out by thawing the frozen fruit for about 15 minutes before blending)
  3. Scoop smoothie into a bowl
  4. Top with almond butter, buckwheat, banana, almonds, and blueberries
  5. Enjoy!
