Y’all, chocolate and peanut butter is so last season. It’s all about the tahini now (just kidding pb+c forever). In all seriousness, this recipe is quite good for chocolate lovers that want a twist on their favorite dessert. Tahini, or crushed sesame seeds, offers a completely different flavor and nutrient profile to peanut butter, so switching it up every now and then is really beneficial to your health too! If you’re not a fan of tahini, go with your favorite nut butter, but I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this flavor combo.
Ingredients
- 3-4 frozen bananas
- ¼ cup cacao powder
- ¼ – ½ cup water
- 1-2 Tbsp. tahini
- 1-2 tsp. sesame seeds for garnish
- 1 fresh banana, sliced
- 1-2 tsp. dark chocolate flakes (optional)
- ¼ cup rolled oats or rye/spelt/wheat flakes (optional)
Method
- Place the frozen bananas, cacao powder, and water into a blender
- Blend until creamy (help the blender out by thawing the frozen fruit for about 15 minutes before blending)
- Scoop smoothie into a bowl
- Swirl in tahini with a spoon
- Top with sesame seeds, banana, chocolate, and rolled grain flakes
- Enjoy!
Looks yummy 🙂
